Herewith we come to
the end of my adventure on the south half of the globe and therefore to the
last newsletter, too – and this one was even written in the Allgäu ;)
What´s there to
say? I´m leaving Australia half
crying, half laughing. Even with the Up´s and Down´s there will be things I´ll
miss (like I still miss New Zealand) and a part of me I´ve probably left there.
Anyway, I´m happy to
be back in Germany! I´m still trying to get used to it but that´s as well a
good thing when everything seems “new” again. I won´t keep you hanging, here my
last weeks in Oz:
// DAY 624 – 653
// CAFÉ
I was with the “Cheeky
Brothers” till the end – what a working moral, hey? ;) Even on my last day I
worked another 3 hours behind the counter – mainly because I wanted one last
good coffee to go hehe :)
On my second last day
my work colleagues surprised me with a Portuguese lunch and a cake. Beside that
I also got a Goodbye present – which was really nice! I made them some paper
flowers in exchange which they could use as Deco, without care ;)
It wasn´t too hard to
go even if I´m sure I´ll miss making coffees!
// ADAM
Looking back Adam
could have come home with me as he ended his teaching job a few weeks ago.
While he was really euphoric to teach, in the end it came down to the money
(like it is a lot in Australia) and when they stopped providing teaching material
he decided to use his weekends for more enjoyable stuff again ;)
I´m looking forward to
the day when we both make it on the same plane hehe :)
// SUMMER
One
day before I were on my way home we finally had the official summer start! And
what a start that was! Melbourne said goodbye with 3 days of sunshine and 31 –
36 degrees. Any complains? NONE :)
BUT
(and otherwise it would be boring) I´m happy to see snow again and leave this
bloody hay fever behind me for now ;)
// LANEWAY LEARNING
Once more I scored a
place in “Henna Love” :) Again an awesome course and very
interesting. As the trainer sold Henna packages I´ve decided to treat myself
with one so I´m pretty prepared for the german summer already ;)
// ST. KILDA
During the last months
it was clear to the both of us that we should have never moved to Brunswick.
Since we´ve discovered that beach to “play in the sand” ;) we´ve spent all our
weekends in St. Kilda. Besides heaps of tourists, expensive flats and sluts we
agreed that this spot would be more us (close to the beach, markets and the
vibe in general). But how do you know if you don´t try?! ;)
//GOODBYES
At
some stage it was time to say goodbye :( unfortunately nearly
everyone we´ve invited to my/our goodbye drinks declined on short notice - except Zoe! She´s as well the person
I´ll miss the most! We´ve met while travelling New Zealand, lived together in
Wellington, I lived with her family during the Aussie Open and for the last 6
months we both even lived in Melbourne. Well, we´ve killed 2,5 bottles of wine
anyway and I had my worst hangover in Australia ;)
On the
last Saturday we still managed to catch up with Bronya and Tim for one more
time (I´ve lived with them for another week after I lived with Zoe´s parents).
We had one last tour through Brunswick and had quite a good time :)
I´ve
also caught up with Tenille (ex work colleague) for some yummy breakfast in one
of the little Cafés.
At
least I could still say goodbye to some people – and who knows – maybe we´ll
see each other again in less time than we think.
// ENGLAND
First of all we will
spend the time before Christmas in the Allgäu, of course, but as well the plans
for England are fixed. I´m really looking forward to meeting Adam´s whole
family in person and to finally see England (at least some bits and bops).
We´ll celebrate New
Year´s eve with Adam´s sister and the beginning of the year with his mum and
James (whom I´ve already met in Melbourne). After that we´ll spend another week
with his dad and grandpa before we come back to Germany WITH his dad. He would
like to make a holiday in the Allgäu for a week and to meet my parents :) there
you go – it stays turbulent.
// GERMANY
When I´ve left
Melbourne on the 2nd of December with 36 degrees!!! (in Jandals ehm
Thongs and T-shirt, of course, just how it should be ;)) I´ve also treated
myself to my first Duty Free shopping. Not only for me, as well for some
special people for Christmas. As I´ve nearly managed to take these things half
around the world it was the Swiss in Zürich who made stress! Fortunately a
little walk out of the airport to check-in my hand luggage solved the problem
and I brought it to Germany. Just changing (which means putting on my winter
clothes) wasn´t possible anymore as it had to happen really quickly. Therefore
I arrived in Munich just how a real Aussie would: Thongs with socks, T-shirt
and only a ¾ tight. Perfect in between all this suits and thick jackets! :) But
my family thought of everything and so they had a Down Jacket with them :)
After the Welcome with
German flags we drove home and the next surprise was waiting for me: Bubbles
and Cake in the garden :) The weather couldn’t have been
better and therefore it was easy to take! And I thought everyone´s at work… ;)
At the moment I´m
still trying to get used to the change again but struggling a bit. I´m sure it
will be fine as I have heaps of stuff to do before Adam is coming soon. Slowly
I´m getting into Christmas mood and as well the cold weather isn´t too bad
anymore ;)
I´ve attached a lot of
pictures in addition, even if they are not up to date, but I took them during
the months in Melbourne. Besides that a few are from the City before Xmas ;)
After some of you
thought I´m already married (because of the dress at the races): No, not yet ;)
We have the rings and
the dress arrived just after mein Germany, too – so we are ALMOST ready. No,
honestly, for now we celebrate Christmas and New Year´s and then there is
enough to do!
Well, this is it. Maybe
there´ll be another one from the wedding or so… we´ll see :)
Therefore:
MANY, MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR
READING (OR LOOKING AT THE PICUTRES :))!
I had a lot of fun and
hope I see everyone of you in person again soon (or otherwise whenever :)).
Read you later,
The Baba
